Cisco Expressway Mobile and Remote Access

Cisco Unified Communications Mobile and Remote Access (MRA) is part of the Cisco Collaboration Edge Architecture. It allows Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM) to provide registration, call control, provisioning, messaging, and presence services to endpoints such as Cisco Jabber when the endpoint is outside the enterprise network. The Expressway provides secure firewall traversal and line-side support for Unified CM registrations.

Verint recording is supported with Expressway and MRA for devices that can support JTAPI CTI and BIB recording. Recording has the following prerequisites:

  • To record Cisco devices that support BIB through Expressway MRA, the following are required:

    • Expressway 8.10.2 or newer

    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager 11.5(1)SU3 or newer

  • To record Jabber BIB for iOS and Android over Expressway MRA with JTAPI CTI, CUCM 12.5.1 or newer is required. Device profiles must have “Allow Control of Device from CTI” enabled within CUCM.

Known limitations

  • Recording of Jabber BIB for iOS and Android without JTAPI is not generally supported, due to lack of metadata available, and recording segmentation possibility.

  • Recording only works for direct person-to-person calls, and not for conferences.

  • Recording is not currently supported for Silent Monitoring and Whisper Coaching features.

  • Only supported with CUCM registered endpoints, not supported on Expressway-registered endpoints.
