Add remote target servers to the network pane

The first time you run the SRT, the Network pane only display the local server. You can add up to 10 remote servers to the installation tree either one by one or by scanning the network with a defined address range.

This section is only relevant for remote installations. Not required for a local installation (with or without central repository).

Procedure

  1. For a single server, add the server to the installation tree as follows:

    1. In the Server Address field, type the server address of the remote target server to add.

The server address can be IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).

    2. Clear the Use Default User option.

    3. Type the Installation Service Account User name (domain short name and user name) and Password.

    4. Click Add.

The SRT attempts to detect the remote server and connect to it.

The following indications can be displayed:

      • icon of connection in progress Connection in process.

      • icon of detection in progress Detection in process.

      • icon of connection and detection in progress Connection and detection processes are completed successfully. The server is ready for installation.

  2. For multiple servers, add the servers to the installation tree as follows:

    1. From the SRT menu, click Tools > Scan Network.

      The Scan Network dialog appears.

    2. In the Address Range, type the IP address range of the servers you want to add to the Network pane. The SRT scans the network for addresses within this range.

    3. Clear the Use Default User option.

    4. Type the Management service account User name (domain short name and user name) and Password.

    5. Click Scan.

The SRT attempts to detect the remote target servers and connect to them.
