Run the Server Readiness Tool

Before you begin

  • If you run the SRT from a management machine to install platforms on remote target servers, verify that the management machine meets the following requirements:

    • Windows 2022, Windows 2019, or Windows 2016

    • Minimum 8 GB RAM

Installation from a management machine running OS other than specified is not supported.

  • If Internet Explorer is open, close it to prevent issues during installation of third-party components.

  • To receive updates related to the installation progress to a predefined email address or to an SNMP server, see Setting up Email or SNMP Server Installation Notifications section in the SRT help.

During installation the target server is rebooted one or more times. To perform unattended reboots, the installer configures Windows AutoAdminLogon.

If the customer has configured Legal Notices to pop-up with AutoAdminLogon, the reboot operations require manual acknowledgment of the Legal Notices.

Procedure

  1. Obtain the user name and password of the Installation Service Account (as specified in the Site Preparation Checklist). Ensure that this user is also a windows administrative user for each of the target servers.

  2. Log on to the management machine or the local target server with the Installation Service Account.

If you use a local target server that is part of the deployment, install the system platform on the local target server, either before or after installing all remote target servers.

  3. From the Start menu, select Run and type: \\<full path of the shared storage location>\Setup.exe. Click Ok.

The maximum length of the path to the shared storage location is 255 characters. In addition, do not use $ sign to access the shared storage location over the network. This causes a failure when the SRT attempts to continue the installation after restart.

SRT setup checks the local server for prerequisite components and if required installs them.

When installing a site platform on a remote site server, type the full path of the shared storage location is in the remote site. This is relevant after the site platforms are copied to the remote site.

    The SRT Welcome window appears.

  4. Type the Installation Service Account User name (domain short name and user name) and Password used to log in.

  5. Select Remember My Password, and then click Apply.

    The Select Platform window appears.
