Create triggers workflow

A trigger only fires when the condition is true. To create a trigger, use captured content to create a condition that causes a reaction when fired.

The create trigger workflow is a basic flow that you can use to create any type of trigger.

For window triggers, Path Validator has simplified the create trigger workflow.

Workflow

  1. Open the Triggers menu.

  2. Configure a Trigger Action. This action is taken if the trigger fires.
    Examples:

    • Execute a command

    • Assign a value to a variable

    • Perform an operation on a variable

    • Integrate with WFO

  3. Add Trigger Condition. This condition must be present for the trigger to fire.
    Examples:

    • Window behavior

    • User group

    • Selected Criteria

    • Variable

    • Hot key press

  4. Click Save and close.

Trigger definitions are sent to all DPA client machines at the next trigger update interval. To send multiple trigger definitions simultaneously, disable the triggers and then enable each one when all new definitions are ready.

If you are creating multiple triggers for the same screen, a significant time saver is to copy the trigger and only change what is necessary. See Copy Triggers.
