Creating Web Site Modules
By default, Desktop and Process Analytics includes statistics on web site usage as a whole (except on the Web Site Report). Individual web sites are not listed on a Timeline Chart by report.
Creating web site modules is a particular benefit for customers whose users use Internet or Intranet sites as part of their work processes. For example, you can create a Web site module for Desktop and Process Analytics Web Reporting.
Procedure
-
Go to Administration. Under Modules, select Window Modules.
-
In the Organization Name list, select the highest level organization visible to you.
For the module to be visible and applicable to all organizations, you require DPA administrative privileges at the root organization level.
You can use the keystroke ALT+O to access the organization tree.
-
Click the Add New Module button or the Edit icon to update an existing module, and on the Window Modules screen, complete the relevant fields:
Field
Description
Module Name
Name of the module, which will appear in reports
Application Name
The name of the browser application used to access the Web site (in this example: IEXPLORE).
Keyword (part of Window title or part of URL)
Text or a substring from the web site's URL.
In this example, where the URL is http://senan-vista-61/FocusAdmin/AdminItems/ModuleList.aspx, you can enter, for example: FocusAdmin
The keyword must exist in the window title of the URL.
Web Site (part of Web Server name)
Web site name, which is the part of the URL between http:// and the first forward slash /.
In this example, the web site is: senan-vista-61
NOTE: The protocol (http://) must not be entered in the Web Site field. Anything including and after the first / should be included in the Keyword field only, if required.
Replacement Window Title
Text that replaces the original window title. To keep the original window title, leave this field blank.
Regular Expression Options
For advanced use, a regular expression may be entered for either the Window title/URL match, or the Web site. This provides greater flexibility when trying to match against a string.
Using this example, we may want to match:
focusAdmin/Triggers/ModuleList.aspx
and
FocusAdmin/Triggers/ContentModule.aspx
but not:
FocusAdmin/Triggers/TriggerList.aspx
This level of pattern matching can only be covered using a regular expression.
To match a string starting with FocusAdmin, but also containing Module, you can enter:
FocusAdmin.*Module
NOTE: Regular expressions should be used sparingly. No validation or support is given against the use of or capabilities of regular expressions. Regular expression evaluation is case-sensitive, unless you explicitly include the operands required to ignore case.
Regular expressions are only available for advanced use and should not be used unless the user creating them is familiar with regular expression libraries as outlined at the link below:
-
Click Add New Module to create the module.
Once this module is created, the DPA application manages this entity as a separate application, and differentiates it in reports from other application usage.
