Lock a Collection Parameters

Once a Collection is locked, Contributions cannot be added to it and the completed time stamp is recorded. Should a new Contribution open with the identifier of a locked Collection, a new Collection is opened with the same identifier. In order to create a new collection with a new ID, the open Collection needs to be issued a new identifier.

If you were locking the Collection for Mrs. Jones' home theft claim, the best practice is to create a Contribution which includes Trigger Variables to capture the data which is reused and subject to change. In this case, as the information collected in the open Contribution is exactly the same as the information as end Contribution, there is no need to add additional parameters.
