System unavailable error overview

While working in the Speech Analytics application (Speech Portal), the user receives the following message:

The system is currently unavailable, please contact your system administrator.

This error indicates that a failure has occurred in the Speech Application Server’s SpeechCat process initialization. This error is received for every request the Speech Portal sends to the Speech Application Server.

Potential root causes

There are two potential causes for this error:

  • System environment: This can include MDAL component-related issues, new installation issues, user or system permissions, firewall port configurations, component connections, other system service issues, etc.

  • Corrupt index: This can include failures loading the index from the disk, the initialization of the categories, or other unknown index-related errors.

Failure analysis

To determine whether the root cause is environmental or due to a corrupt index, you need to search for the failure reason (by analyzing the exceptions) in the SpeechCat log files.

You then need to further analyze the issue by performing a series of checks and searching for errors. Once these checks are completed, you can prepare and submit the ESR with the relevant information.
