Category database synchronization
On a scheduled basis, the data from categories that have a Published state are integrated and synchronized with system databases.
Categories can be modified regardless of their synchronization status. If you modify or delete a category that is being synchronized, the synchronization process stops and restarts to update the databases with the new data.
Synchronization is initiated as a result of one of the following:
-
A Published category is modified.
-
An Inactive or Active category is changed to Published.
-
A new Published category is created.
-
A Published category is deleted.
-
When a Published or Active category associated with a Published category is modified, the Published category is synchronized.
The table shows the implications of the category state changes.

|---|---|---|

Published |
Active or Inactive |
Category results are no longer integrated with suite-wide applications. |
|
Published |
Active |
Inbound interactions continue to be tagged with the specific category. |
|
Active or Inactive |
Published |
Category results are integrated with suite-wide applications. In addition, relevant interactions are retroactively assigned to the specific category. |
|
Active or Published |
Inactive |
All interactions in the index that were tagged with this category lose their tag. If an Active or Published category is changed to Inactive is then reactivated, there is a gap in the category historical trend for the period the category was not active. |
