Remove legal hold from a case

Remove the legal hold status from a case when you no longer need to use the case for compliance or legal purposes.

An interaction can be removed from legal hold in three ways. First, by deleting it from a legal hold case. Second, by removing the legal hold status from a case. Third, by deleting the legal hold case. After the interaction is removed from legal hold:

  • Interactions are eligible for deletion based on the standard retention settings for interactions as defined on the archive drive as well as the days until deletion setting configured for each recycle bin.

  • If an interaction is not archived and is not in a recycle bin, the database retention of six months applies.

Before you begin 

Access a case that is under legal hold.

Procedure 

  1. On the right side of the page, open the workspace shortcut menu.

  2. Click Remove Legal Hold.

    • If the case is not already in a legal hold status, the option is not available.

    • If you do not have the role privilege to Disable Legal Hold, the option is not available.

  3. To complete the removal of legal hold from the case, from the dialog box displayed, click Remove Legal Hold.
