Create an AD/LDS Replica in the Secondary Data Center

Task 3 of 3 to set up AD/LDS replication in the secondary data center.

In this task, you replicate the AD/LDS instance. Replicate the instance from the server in the primary data center that hosts the QM Database server role to the corresponding server in the secondary data center that hosts the QM Database server role. You use a Windows directory setup wizard on the standby server to complete this task.

To complete this procedure, you must know the following information:

  • The fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the server in the primary data center on which the QM Database server role is active. (You replicate the AD/LDS instance from this server.)

  • The user name and password of the Management Services Account. These credentials are available on the System Management > Enterprise > Enterprise Settings tab.

To create a replica of the primary data center AD/LDS instance in the secondary data center:

  1. Perform this step from the Windows desktop of the standby server in the secondary data center that hosts the QM Database server role.

Select Start > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services Setup Wizard.

  2. At the Welcome screen, click Next.

  3. At the Setup Options screen, select A replica of an existing instance and click Next.

  4. At the Instance Name screen, do the following:

    1. In the Instance name: text box, type Directory.

    2. In the Description: text box (if available), type a description of the instance. The description is at your discretion.

    3. Click Next.

  5. At the Ports screen, do the following:

    1. In the LDAP port number: field, enter 50000.

    2. In the SSL port number: field, enter 50001.

    3. Click Next.

  6. At the Joining a Configuration Set screen, do the following:

    1. In the Server: text box, enter the fully qualified domain name of the server in the primary data center on which the QM Database server role is active.

    2. In the LDAP port: text box, enter 50000.

    3. Click Next.

  7. At the Administrative Credentials for the Configuration Set screen, you must enter the credentials of the Management Service Account (MSA).

If you are currently logged in to Windows as the Management Service Account, select Currently logged on user. Click Next and continue to step 8.

If you are not logged in to Windows as the Management Service Account, do the following:

    1. Select This account:

    2. In the User name: field, enter the user name of the Management Service Account.

    3. In the Password: field, enter the password of the Management Service Account.

    4. Click Next and continue to step 8.

  8. At the Copying Application Directory Partitions screen, select the OU=Verint partition DN, and click Next.

  9. At the File Locations screen, specify the directories in which to store the files associated with the AD/LDS instance:

    1. In the Data files: text box, specify the following directory on the local server (the server from which you are running this setup wizard):

      %IMPACT360DATADIR%\ADAM\Directory\data

    2. In the Data recovery files: text box, specify the following directory:

      %IMPACT360DATADIR%\ADAM\Directory\logs

    3. Click Next.

  10. At the Service Account Selection screen, enter the credentials of the Management Service Account, as described here:

    1. Select This account:

    2. In the User Name: field, enter the user name of the Management Service Account.

    3. In the Password: field, enter the password of the Management Service Account.

    4. Click Next

  11. At the AD/LDS Administrators screen, select the Management Service Account, as described here:

    • If you are currently logged into Windows as the Management Service Account, select Currently logged on user, and then click Next.

    • If you are not logged into Windows as the Management Service Account, select This account and then browse to and select the Management Service Account. Click Next.

  12. At the Ready to Install screen, review your entries and verify that they are correct. Click Next to begin the installation.

A progress screen displays as the installation proceeds.

  13. On the Completing the Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services Setup Wizard screen, click Finish.

Verifying the Installation of the Replica

You can test the installation of the replica on the standby server in the secondary data center that hosts the QM Database server role. To do this, verify that the service named Directory is started on that QM Database Server.

For example:

  1. From the Windows desktop, select Start > Run and in the Open: text box enter services.msc

  2. When the Services window displays, verify that a service named Directory exists and that the status of the service is Started.

Environmental Notes

Note the following about the environment in which AD/LDS operates.

  • AD/LDS data files should appear in the exclusion antivirus list. These files are located in the directory you chose at the File Locations screen in step 9 of this procedure.
