Add the CipherTrust KMS Backup Key

Every deployment has its own wrapper key created by default. You can create the new system level backup key and secure. You can further set the newly created backup key as default.

CipherTrust Manager users, such as System Administrators, who are authorized to perform backup, can perform system backups and restores. Domain administrators are not authorized to perform system backups.

System backups cannot be restored on a high availability node. The High Availability Remove or Rebuild method is used to restore a system backup.

Procedure 

  1. Log on to the CipherTrust Manager web application as SystemAdministrator.

  2. Go to Admin Settings, select Backup Keys.

  3. Under Add Backup Keys, select Add System Backup Key.

  4. On the Backup Keys page, click the Screenshot of more option option.

  5. Select Make Default.

  6. On the Backup Keys page, click the Screenshot of more option option.

  7. Select Download.

    Secure the new backup key in a safe location.
