Installation on Azure Virtual Desktop

Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a virtual Windows desktop hosted in the Azure cloud and accessed using a client, such as Windows, which renders the desktop and shared applications. With the appropriate configuration, the Screen Capture Agent is able to capture AVD desktops.

AVD configuration requirements

  • The AVD can be configured in one of two ways:

    • One VM per user
    • Multiple users per VM

The Screen Capture module must be installed using administrative privileges.

If you are installing on a Multi-session host, install the Screen Capture software once per AVD.

  • On Windows 10, for the Microsoft desktop duplication technology to correctly capture the AVD desktops, the Virtual Machine (VM) must be configured to use an XDDM display driver.

    To set the display driver:

    1. Open the Microsoft Windows Group Policy Editor.

Go to Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host.

    2. Under Remote Session Environment, set the Policy [Use WDDM graphics display driver for Remote Desktop Connections] to Disabled.

  • Azure Enterprise Multi-session configured for Published (or Shared Application) is not supported.

  • Screen Capture Protection for Windows Virtual Desktop must be disabled (which is the default setting). If this feature is enabled, Verint cannot capture the screen.

  • For the AVD Multi-session environment to correctly close disconnected sessions, complete the following configuration:

    1. As an administrator, open the Microsoft Windows Group Policy Editor.

    2. Go to Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host.

    3. Under Session Time Limits, set the Policy [Set time limit for disconnected sessions] to the amount of time in which the disconnected session remains active. The suggested setting is one minute.

Screen capture configuration requirements

If using the default connection mode where the agent capture module connects to the RIS and screen recorder, the virtual desktop must be configured to allow outgoing connections from the agent capture module.
