TAS server preparation and validation
Text Analytics can be deployed in a consolidated or distributed environment as a virtual or physical server. No matter which environment you use, the servers must meet the requirements listed in the CFE.
It is the customer's responsibility to prepare their servers for Text Analytics installation in a Linux environment:
-
Server preparation modes
TAS servers can be prepared by running the automated or manual workflows.
-
RPM for third party products in TAS servers
Customers can use the RPM provided, or install the required third party products on their own. The server requirement matrix lists the software packages included in the RPM. The Technology Map lists the supported versions.
-
Server readiness validation
After either automated or manual server preparation, the TAS Server Readiness Validation validates that all TAS servers in your deployment conform to the requirements.
General server requirements
-
Verify that the customer has installed the latest Linux updates on all TAS servers in the deployment (using YUM package manager for example).
-
Verify that you have the FQDN of each TAS server, and they are DNS resolvable.
-
All TAS servers require P12 and CA certificates. If you don't have the required certificates, you can create them as part of the installation readiness procedure.
-
Data directory on TAS servers: By default, all TAS index, configuration, log, and transaction log files are added to the /opt/app/data directory. If you require a different directory, it must be explicitly defined in the Site Preparation Checklist.
-
Secured registry requires authentication through user name and password. Verify that you have the user name and password for authentication to the secured registry, and define them in the Site Preparation Checklist.
TAS Application and Datastore servers
The TAS Application and Datastore servers are hosted on the same physical server in a consolidated environment, and on two different servers in a distributed environment. Both servers are deployed in the Data Center deployment zone.
-
Text Analytics Application server: Hosts the Text Analytics application services providing the analytics insights, including the text ingestion, processing, and application services.
-
Text Analytics Datastore server: Hosts the repositories including the Text Indexing Service, the Configuration Service, and the data repository.
TAS Management server
One server or partition must be designated as the Management server. The TAS Management server hosts the Docker repository required to deploy the Docker Images on the TAS Management, Datastore, and Application Servers, and the centralized logger service for all servers. The Management server is deployed in the Data Center deployment zone.
