Application Analysis Reporting
Application Analysis is one of the DPA applications. Application Analysis captures and analyzes employee desktop application activity, then reports that activity through web reports.
Reports
Timeline Reports display an employee application usage for a selected day. As opposed to Chart reports, Timeline Reports do not show exactly how much time was spent in each application.
Browser application behavior and Application Analysis data
The DPA client can log a browser URL before the browser window title is updated to reflect the new application title. Therefore, in DPA reports, the window title does not match the current URL.
For example, if you start with a webpage with the URL http://www.google.com, the browser window title is Google. If you then go to http://www.yahoo.com, for a second or so, the window text is still Google, but when the page loads, the window title updates to Yahoo. This behavior is standard. The URL loading updates the window title. For a short duration, anywhere from zero seconds to five seconds, DPA reports that the user is on URL http://www.yahoo.com, with window title Google, which is a mismatch. Once the page loads, DPA reports the correct URL/Window Title combination, http://www.yahoo.com with window title Yahoo.
