System Event Triggers
A System Event trigger is fired when the operating system state is changed when an action is performed. For example, when the system goes idle, is turned off, or when the system is started.
The following system events can fire this trigger type:
-
On Idle
The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects that there have not been any keyboard activity or mouse clicks for a set period. This event is triggered when the IdleInterval time has passed. The Client Group Configuration Item Details in the DPA Configuration profile sets this parameter.
-
No Longer Idle
The System Event trigger is fired when the state changes from Idle.
-
PC-Startup
The System Event trigger is fired when the DPA client starts.
-
PC-Shutdown
The System Event trigger is fired when the user logs off the DPA client machine or when the client machine is shut down.
-
PCProt failed to start
The System Event trigger is fired when there is a notification that the protection mechanism is not initialized at DPA start up.
-
PCMon Stopped by User
The System Event trigger is fired when the user selects the tray icon "Close" option.
-
PC Suspend Request
The System Event trigger is fired when suspend (sleep or hibernate) is initialized.
-
Data logging started by User
The System Event trigger is fired when the user selects the tray icon "Start logging" option.
-
Data logging stopped by User
The System Event trigger is fired when the user selects the tray icon "Stop logging" option.
-
System Time change detected
The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects a system time change (typically, this happens when a time zone change occurs, but can also indicate a loss of work station resources under a high CPU load).
-
Trigger version
The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects that the pcmontridgedef.xml file is loaded.
-
Process version
The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects a process version update.
-
Workstation Locked
The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects a workstation lock event.
-
Workstation Unlocked
The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects a workstation unlock event.
-
Inactive - The System Event trigger is fired when DPA detects a workstation has gone from being idle to being inactive.
Example: System event trigger for On Idle
Elizabeth is the DPA manager at a call center for an airline. Her agents get bonuses for taking calls. The longer the agents are idle, the fewer calls they take. Elizabeth creates a trigger which notifies the agent when their idle time is longer than five minutes. After 10 minutes, the manager gets notified. This notification allows the manager to know when the agents are not handling calls. This notification also helps agents to remember to log off their computers when they are not sitting at their desks.
