Create trigger variables

Trigger variables are used as a condition for many kinds of triggers. You should create trigger variables before you create the trigger or trigger variable operation.

If you already have created the trigger, edit it to include the variables. To use the variable available add it to the Trigger Variable Operations menu of any new or existing trigger.

Before you begin 

Verify you are familiar with the Trigger Variable properties table.

Procedure 

  1. In the Desktop and Process Analytics application, go to Administration and select Trigger Variables.

  2. Click the Organization Name to associate with this variable.

  3. Click Add New Trigger Variable icon.

  4. In Trigger Variable, enter the name of the trigger variable.

  5. In Description, enter a description for the variable, such as what information the variable stores.

  6. From the Type list, select a type for the variable.

  7. In the Default Value field, enter a value for the variable. This value is used each time the variable initiates. Variables initiate when the DPA client starts up.

  8. In the Expiry field, set the expiration time (in seconds) for the variable. When the variable expires, it resets to the default value.

  9. Click the Check icon. To create more variables, repeat this procedure from step 3.
