Configure a Capture Verification Collector

A Collector is an Automated Verification software component that collects Call Detail Records (CDRs) from a switch. Capture Verification uses the CDR data to verify recordings for an organization and evaluate whether recordings are compliant and in line with a target level of service.

The Collector configuration identifies a phone, trader, or application type data source associated with the required organization and the properties the Collector requires to connect to the data source.

Do not configure Collectors for phone data sources with:

  • the switch/sub-type Avaya Communication Manager if the Contact Policy Type is set as Backoffice, and

  • the switch/sub-type External Recorder if the recorded switch platform in VFC Capture is Avaya DMCC/MR.

No CDR ;data is generated for some segments of calls made on these types of switch data sources.

All recordings of calls made on these switch data sources are categorized as Recorded, partial call or Recorded in error, partial call in compliance results. If you select these data sources in the Data Sources filter pane on the Overview and Issues screens, your results will be limited to these compliance categories.

If the license for a specific integration is disabled, Collectors of that feed type can still be deleted, but cannot be further edited, enabled, or disabled. For External Recorder data sources, the Collector is removed from the Data Sources pane and no new Collectors can be added for the data source. For all other data sources, the data source itself is removed from the pane.

Before you begin

Include a data source in Capture Verification

Procedure

  1. Go to Automated Verification. Under Capture Verification, select Configuration.

  2. Under Data Sources, select the data source from the list.

If the switch/sub-type of the data source is External Recorder, selecting the data source opens the data source summary screen.

  3. For data sources with the External Recorder or IP Trade switch/sub-type, one or more Collectors must be added on the data source summary screen.

    1. Select a Feed type. The feed type specifies the type of switch from which the Collector is collecting data.

    2. Select the Add Collector button add button to add a Collector of the selected feed type.

  4. On the Collector tab, select the required Collector configuration properties.

  5. Select Save.

If all required values are valid and the Collector is enabled, the configured Collector attempts to connect to the data source. A connection status message indicates whether the connection is successful. If any required field is blank or contains an invalid value, the system highlights the field in red.

  6. To edit the configuration of a Collector associated with an External Recorder switch/sub-type data source, select the Edit Collector configuration button edit button under Actions on the data source summary screen.

  7. To enable a configured Collector, select the toggle under Enabled on the data source summary screen. Clearing the toggle disables the Collector, and if a connection to a switch is active, the Collector disconnects.

Excluding a data source from Capture Verification disables all Collectors for that data source. You can edit and save Collector configurations when the data source is excluded, but you cannot enable the Collectors. Including a data source which has configured or previously active Collectors does not enable the Collectors automatically.

  8. To delete a Collector associated with an External Recorder switch/sub-type data source, select the Delete Collector button delete button under Actions on the data source summary screen.

When all Collectors are deleted from a data source, the Feed type defaults to blank and must be selected again before adding new Collectors.

The Collector name is unique across all Collectors ever created. The names of Collectors that have been deleted cannot be reused on newly created Collectors.
