Modify category definitions

Modifying the definitions of an existing category optimizes it according to changing business needs. You may need to modify definitions for example, after updates to the enterprise ontology. After modifying the definitions, you can either save the changes to the existing category, or save the changes as a new category.

New versus historical interactions

  • New interactions that match the category definitions are automatically associated with the category.

  • Historical interactions that match the category definitions are associated with the category only on reprocess.

Before you begin 

View categories in project

Procedure 

  1. Select the category and click Edit.

    This action returns you to the Analyze workspace with the search path showing the criteria that defines the category.

  2. Add new criteria, or remove criteria.

    When you modify definitions, make sure that you do not add other categories or a date range.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To save changes and overwrite the existing definitions, click Save As Category Save.

    • To save changes as a new category, click Save As, and then enter the Name, Description, and define the state of the category.
    • To exist without saving changes, click Close.
